This has made it possible for me to see so many shows like Side om Side. It mostly works very well, although there are often mistranslations of slang. For example "Kodder du?" is translated as "You meat." instead of "You're kidding!" It also doesn't do well if a word has been hyphenated and carried over to the next line in the original. If you know the language fairly well, you can recognize the mistranslations fairly easily. Much better than constantly pausing to check the Norwegian subtitles.
