FoxFilter helps block pornographic and any other user-defined content. Great for use in your home, business, library or classroom.
Please support payment method other than PayPal for subscriptions. And consider updating the app to 2024 as it says "Updated: June 7, 2021".
If you don't know anything about the "settings" page, the star rating is probably accurate. This doesn't come configured out of the box. However, if you have been around computers for a while, this is a very easy to configure extension. It needs to be set up by the user or administrator. You need to tell it what counts as an off limits word as well as words that are fine if you come across them. The lists that come with the extension aren't very good (like blocking 18+ and sex might hit on randomly generated urls), but if you spend some energy on it, it isn't that hard to get it just right. With the subscription, it will keep your lists on a cloud server, where you can update it for all the users you have logged in. It takes about 10 minutes to update after a change. You can block the URL and Title, or you can make it block anything on the page. It can be made to block the "extensions" page, so keep the password easy to find. That means you can't uninstall it without doing some very involved computer repair stuff. You'll forgive me for not saying how here. You can also set the extension to run in incognito mode. You can set the error to be the default, which tells you what keyword was found and blocked, or you can set it to redirect to another page. You can make your own error page on a hosted site, or you can redirect to kids' Britannica or something. I limit the internet for my teens, of course, but I also use it for myself. I don't want porn on my computer (though part of me does). Even knowing how to change the settings, I have to overcome my laziness to walk over to where I store the password, spend the energy to enter it, update the settings, wait for it to propagate. With that kind of difficulty, my better nature keeps my carnal nature in check most of the time. There's no impulse internet viewing with this app in the way. Of course, if you have the knowledge and the inclination, you can get around anything, but if you have the inclination, it's easy enough to go to the adult bookstore down the road too. I use other tools, Clean Browsing DNS, Google Family Link, Accountable2You, but one blocks too little, another blocks too much, and one tells on you for false positives all too often. With all the euphemisms out there for adult organs and activities, it really does take a personal touch. A consistent pattern of updating, daily, then weekly, then monthly. IMO, I couldn't do this internet viewing thing without Foxfilter. If your hand makes you sin, cut it off. You know what I mean? Not your hand so much as keywords and websites.
Its a content blocker that can block content that contains certain words, so it blocks youtube and spells it out to the a child we blocked this because "Found the blocked keyword 'free and sex' in the page's Body" Exactly why would I want the very banned words displayed as a result on the block page.
