Since v1.0.0, you can set the default download format by right click on the extension -> Options -> Choose default download format. The extension currently support xlsx, pdf and csv.

Works like a charm, and is way much better than changing the url from "edit?" to "export?format=xlsx&" either by hand or thru a javascript snippet saved in a bookmark.
